This exquisite reel is based on Youngs Purist Ii 2041 centrepin. One of the Heritage's best features is the removable line guard that was developed by John Wilson. Wilson was a predominant master in centrepin Fishing. Wilson's design functions to help uniformly re-tension line on the spool, a highlight that's foremost to me, especially when I'm Fishing in adverse conditions, such as in high winds.

The reel's body and spools are machined from durable, corrosion resistant aluminium bar stock. The design has duplicate bearings to ensure smooth operation. The handles and line guard are removable. The on-off click drag is operated by a lever mechanism. I do appreciate the reel's micro-adjustable drag system. The heritage is quite good finding as well, with a stunning forest green anodised discontinue and gold script on the back plate. It comes in a protective canvas pouch. The reel has a 4.5" diameter and is 3/4" wide. I'd also like to mention that it has a quick release spool and a solid backplate. The heritage is man-made in the Uk by Jw Young & Sons. Each reel carries a unique serial amount and is packaged in a stunning matte black box.

About Jw Young and Sons
James Wilson Young was born in the late 19th century in Britain. He was the son of a fishing reel maker. A natural innovator, designer and inventor, Young worked at Allcock's, where he supervised reel production. Then he struck out on his own, aided by his sons. Young died in an accident in 1921, but his sons carried on the business. The company contributed to Britain's World War Ii effort, manufacture aircraft components. In 1965, Youngs became part of the American company Noris Shakespeare. In 2001, the company was acquired by Masterline International Ltd. All components of Youngs reels are made in the Uk. To this day a member of the Young family personally inspects the finished reels before signing a certificate stating that they conform to the family's high ability and carrying out standards.
